Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 16, 2026

1. Scope and Purpose

This Privacy Policy explains how SoundSafe Kids ("SoundSafe Kids," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the SoundSafe Kids mobile application (the "App") and the SoundSafe Kids website at soundsafe.kids (the "Website"), together the "Service."

The App is designed as a local-first product: your measurement and child profile data is created, analyzed, and stored on your device. We built SoundSafe Kids to minimize data collection and to avoid cloud storage of your app data whenever possible.

2. Key Definitions

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores operational data locally on your iPhone. We do not receive this data on our servers.

This Local App Data stays in your app container unless you choose to include your device in system-level backup tools such as iCloud Backup.

4. Microphone and Audio Processing

SoundSafe Kids requires microphone access to measure noise levels. Audio handling in the App is designed for real-time signal processing:

You can withdraw microphone access at any time in iOS settings. Measurement features will be unavailable while microphone permission is disabled.

5. Data We Do Not Collect from the App

We do not collect, store, or receive the following from within the App:

We do not run advertising SDKs in the App.

6. Purchases and Subscription Information

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive only the minimum entitlement information needed to unlock purchased functionality.

We do not receive your full payment card details, billing address, or Apple account password. Billing operations and refunds are handled by Apple according to Apple's policies.

7. Limited Data from Third-Party Platforms

We may receive limited aggregate and operational information from platform providers.

We use these sources to operate, secure, and improve the Service. We do not use this information for cross-site behavioral advertising.

8. Website Data Processing

The Website is hosted on Railway and may process limited technical information needed to serve pages and maintain reliability, such as IP address, request metadata, and user-agent details in server logs.

We do not run third-party analytics scripts on the Website. We do not sell website visitor data. We do not run third-party ad pixels on the Website.

9. Communications You Send to Us

If you contact us by email (for support, beta access, or other requests), we process the information you include in your message, such as your email address, name (if provided), and message content.

We use this information to respond, provide support, and improve the Service. We do not publish your communications and we do not sell contact details.

10. Why We Process Data

Where we process limited personal data (primarily website operations and support communications), our purposes include:

11. Legal Bases (EEA/UK/Switzerland)

If GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases for the limited processing described above:

12. Jurisdiction-Specific Notices

Notice to Residents of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

To the extent we process personal data subject to GDPR or similar laws, SoundSafe Kids is generally the controller for website and support-related information we collect. For App data that remains on your device, we do not receive or store that data on our servers.

Depending on local law, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to, or port personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we do so only after considering the impact of the processing and balancing those interests against your rights and freedoms.

Notice to California Residents

California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, including the right to know, access, delete, correct, and limit certain uses of personal information, subject to applicable exceptions.

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law. We also do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information for purposes other than providing the Service, operating the Website, and handling support or compliance obligations.

California residents may submit a privacy request by emailing support@soundsafe.kids. You may designate an authorized agent as permitted by law.

Notice to Residents of Other U.S. States and Similar Jurisdictions

Residents of other jurisdictions with consumer privacy laws may have similar rights, including access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to appeal a request if your local law provides that right. Please contact us at the email below to submit a request.

13. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent personal information. We may share limited information only with:

We require service providers to process information under appropriate confidentiality and security protections.

14. International Data Transfers

The App's core measurement data remains on your device. Limited website and support communication data may be processed in jurisdictions where our providers operate. When required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

15. Data Retention

16. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights that include access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent (where applicable). Because the App is local-first, many controls are available directly on your device.

We may need to verify identity before processing certain requests.

17. U.S. State Privacy Notices

We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined in applicable U.S. state privacy laws.

Residents of states with privacy laws (including California) may submit requests regarding applicable rights by contacting support@soundsafe.kids.

18. Children

SoundSafe Kids is designed for use by parents and caregivers. Children should not directly provide personal information through support channels. The app collects only the child profile information (name, age band) that parents choose to enter, and this data remains on the parent's device. If you believe a child provided personal data to us directly through support channels, contact us and we will investigate and address the report.

19. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the limited data we process. The App's local-first architecture reduces centralized data exposure, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

20. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may link to third-party websites or platforms (including Apple and hosting providers). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, which we recommend reviewing.

21. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
